Advanced Defense Camp this Spring with Pro Jimmy Sharrow at NESC

Updated: Apr 4, 2021

Do you want to be a better D-man and improve your defensive technique? Train like a pro with a pro and learn from Jimmy Sharrow as One Thirty One launch their annual Spring Advanced Hockey Defense Camp in 2021.

The specialised hockey defense clinics will take place at the New England Sports Centre with former pro hockey player Jimmy Sharrow starting this April the 19th running through to the 23rd April, 2021.

The one week defensemen only courses with One Thirty One Hockey are designed to work on defense specific drills to help you improve your game and will run 50 min ice sessions each day over 5 days.

The intense 5 day program will cover a range of defensive skills and concepts including:

  • Body positioning

  • Stick position

  • Getting pucks through to the net

  • Quicker shots

  • Skating with the puck

  • Puck movement

  • Critical D-man techniques (communication, supporting partner, good first pass)

This will be followed by continued development sessions every Thursday. All participants who completed our Winter Clinic 2021 skills program will be guaranteed a place in this advanced program.

The camp will run every day from the 19th of April until the 23rd of April from 10am to 11am with a 30 minute dry land session following directly after and the locker rooms will be open at the arena.

Please Note:

  • Each participant must have completed learn to skate and learn to play hockey programs.

  • All skills levels from all organizations are welcome

  • Both girls and boys are able to attend

  • Each participant must be older than 12 years old for the Spring clinic.

  • Each clinic is limited to 20 places so book early to avoid missing out

The total cost for the week-long clinic will be $350 per player.

The philosophy is simple, small groups to focus on specific skills and to ensure we are developing each and every player involved with the use of technology and a hands on approach. To be a good defensemen you need to work and learn from someone who has played the position. It's the small things you'll learn in these clinics that will end up giving you the most success and the edge on the ice.
